I have no idea exactly how the idea came about, or who formed the idea first… but the idea is there and growing each day. “What idea?” you might ask… well..
We’ve decided it’s time for a change of scenery. A different view from our bedroom window (although the one at the moment is very nice). Time to broaden our horizons and see more of the world. Time to make the most of now and take a leap into the unknown for a while. See what happens…
So here’s what we’ve come up with so far.
20th September 2009. Fly out to Singapore to see the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix. An amazing event we went to last year that was a fantastic experience and one that made us new friends too!
October 1st. Fly from Singapore to Hanoi, Vietnam and spend 3 months slowly travelling back to Singapore by train, boat and bus, via Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia.
After that we’ll fly from Singapore to Sydney, Australia where we’ll stay in a backpackers for a few weeks, gettle settled, hopefully finding work, rent a penthouse apartment overlooking the sydney harbour bridge, etc,etc.. er…. Something like that anyway!

How long we’ll stay there for? Who knows. What we’ll discover, how we’ll feel and what we do are all up for grabs. A totally new experience for the both of us.
We’ll rent our flat in Brighton so we’ll always have a home to come back to. It’s ideally located for renting so it should more than pay for itself plus a little maintenance money put aside.
So a very exciting time ahead for us. There’s so much to research and prepare for. We’re busy looking in to working visas for Australia and have recently bought our flights to Singapore and Australia too. Open ended return so flying back to England is all paid for.
It’s still yet to fully sink in. I firmly believe there is no better time to do it despite the economic climate. In fact to a degree it is only possible because of it. Although it would be nice to earn a bit more interest while we’re frantically saving!
We will of course keep you all posted on our plans as they progress and of course we’ll be blogging while we’re away. If you’ve been to any of the countries mentioned and have any advice then do leave a comment. Or if you have any other information that might be useful to us on our travels!
